User/Member is a person who subscribes and/or is accepted (after requesting) as a member of Buddhist café.

User/Members can view, post articles, create groups, join groups, post images, upload video, make comments on Buddhist café website.


Buddhist.café is hosted on a secure Virtual Private Server (VPS) managed by the site's administrators. The data pertaining to users or members is securely protected against access by any external entities.


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), or any Metadata included.

Other Users can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Users can download and copy images.

CaféTV uploads

The rights of video is complicated. Let’s make this simple. Member owns the video. Member may edit and/or remove video. Admin may remove video if it violates ‘Terms of Use’ policy without warning.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

📍Buddhist.café does share any information with third parties, data miners/sellers etc. Buddhist.café does not sell data. Buddhist.café collects email address and username, and login IP address. These are minimum requirements for most sites. Members are welcome to use anonymous usernames.

Buddhist.café newsletter subscription

Your email address is needed to subscribe to email list. This list remains private. Admin can view and manage list. The email list is not shared, sold nor shown to any party other than Admin. Members can Opt out of receiving newsletters at any time.

Public/Private Chat Data
Private chat/messaging is end to end encrypted. This means that your communications are encrypted on our databases ensuring Admin cannot view nor read your messages. Public chat data is different. Public chat data is encrypted on the website in terms of P2P. Public chat data is stored in database on our servers. Databases can be accessed by Administrators in the event of technical malfunction. Administrators will not access nor view private chat member files.

System emails and notifications

When members use messenger, post comments, post an article, friend request etc system will send auto generated email notifications. When there is a reply or comment on member posts or requests of any kind system will auto generate email notification . Messenger notifications can be adjusted. System emails cannot be disabled.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can see and edit that information when there is account issues.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Kindly allow 3-10 days. Remember we are a volunteer community.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

IP address, username, email address is collected.

Deleting user account

Members/Users may delete their account at any time in Profile settings. All your account data will be wiped clean from Buddhist.cafe site.

If you experience any issues with deleting your account send email to support@buddhist.cafe. ‘Delete my account’, in subject. We need to make sure it is you before deletion.

📍The internet is not private. Whatever you post whether it be a comment, image, article etc can be copied in some way.
